On August 5, more than a dozen people participated in an interactive Legacy Sharing experience at a workshop sponsored by Rockwood Bank. Mike Stith, Founder of One Legacy™, and Cynthia Correll, Program Facilitator, began the session with an icebreaker. Immediately participants were engaged as they played the One Legacy™ Story Starter Game, which focuses on reminiscing about family history. The game stimulated lively conversations about special members of their families, time-honored traditions and favorite recipes.
The participants enjoyed getting to know one another as they shared their personal stories. The final exercise challenged them to write down their memories and discover the magic of legacy sharing. This is what they liked most about the workshops:
“the wonderful stories that were shared”
“the caring communications and friendliness”
“getting those creative juices flowing”
After completing the writing exercise, one woman told the group that she had been “verbally telling my story for many years and it only took 15 minutes to get it on paper!”
The next public Legacy Sharing workshop will be held at the Community Room at Rockwood Bank on Thursday, September 10th, from 1:30 – 3 PM at the Fenton branch. You can register for this free event on Eventbrite.
You’re also welcome to share and publish your story and photographs at www.OneLegacy.com.
