My Advice For Kids Today

Story written by Mary File

I was born in 1921 in Reno IL. We lived in the country, not to from Greenvile IL. I was one of 6 children. We had several dairy cows and quite a few acres of land. My brothers helped milk the cows. During the depression it was pretty rough but we got through it. I think that because we had to work very hard when we were kids, it made us better students. All of us kids completed our college educations. I was a singer and earned a nice scholarship for music at Millikin University in Decatur IL.  My husband and I had 3 children who all graduated from Millikin. My voice teacher wanted me to go on to New York City.  I was considering it but I fell in love with Ben, who became my husband. We moved to his farm 10 miles west of Alhambra IL.

My advice to kids today “The Lord takes care of us and you have to follow him. Keep up with all your family and relatives if you can”.
